Research Interests
Ines Meyer conducts research in humanitarian work psychology (HWP). HWP applies organisational psychology’s insights into behaviour at work in contexts that have traditionally been neglected by the discipline. Since 2012, Ines has pursued 3 research foci: Following from her PhD she investigated how to improve workplace inclusion among employees. A second group of studies explored if the leadership behaviours which have yielded positive outcomes in industry could improve pupils’ performance if adopted by school principals. Currently, she focuses on living wages, decent work and sustainable lives, an area which closely aligns to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 (sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, decent work for all), the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda and South Africa’s National Development Plan. She holds the SARChI Chair in Creation of Decent Work & Sustainable Livelihood.
